My next bike was about a year later, I went in a totally different direction! 1972 Kawasaki H1C 500cc freaking Race bike! Literally, the guy I bought it off of Drag Raced it, had racing stuff in the motor which I never inquired about. Just remember I had to take the 3 Velocity Stacks off and put the Air cleaner back on because I lived on a very dusty country road.
The first day I rode it, I looked down and the front tire had stopped spinning, and I was in 2nd gear accelerating relatively easy. I realized that I only had one tire on the road! Man, I am so lucky I survived THAT bike!
Here's the Kaw, yes I rode it year round too!
I actually had this to 145 mph once, on a winding country road with a passenger on with me!
Yea, I wrecked it at 85 mph July 4th 1975. OSP said I was airborne for 30+ feet, and slid down the road another 220 feet before it ground to a halt! Brother Mike was on behind me. I rode it out, he held onto the back grip and DRUG down the tacky tar road the full 220 feet! The hot sticky tar is the only thing that saved us both!
